About SiFu Alan Paterson

SiFu Alan Paterson, the Head Instructor for Schools of Kung Fu UK, began his martial arts journey at just 9 years old, studying Judo and Jiu-jitsu. Inspired by Bruce Lee and the TV series Kung Fu, he discovered Wing Chun in 1998 and trained with esteemed masters like SiFu Paul Hawkes and SiFu Keith Kernspecht. After further honing his skills in Hong Kong, he established the Schools of Kung Fu in 2005, creating a thriving network of schools across the UK. Under the guidance of SiFu Sergio Iadarola, SiFu Alan achieved his prestigious 6th Technician Grade at the Eternal Spring Institute in Madeira. His leadership has been instrumental in shaping the journey of many students, including Harald Bunge, Head Instructor of Schools of Kung Fu Edinburgh. SiFu Alan’s dedication extends beyond martial arts, contributing to close protection training and community programs.
